It took me awhile to recognize this but when I did it became a game changer.
After my breakup, I had to go pick up my car and belongings from the house I lived in with my partner at the time. When I got there he had already packed all my things and put them in the front room.
AND I found out he was seeing someone else and she had been staying at our house ever since the day of our breakup.
I was heartbroken, on so many levels.
I left all my belonging there, packed up my clothes and headed to Chicago. In my drive to Chicago I remember thinking, “I’m not going to let this break me”. I was determined and committed to go out and build a life so great that he would see he made a huge mistake.
So yes, I was doing it for the “wrong reasons” but those reasons worked for me and that’s ok.
Because it gave me determination.
It gave me commitment.
